The Mountains
'What is it about the mountains that resonates within me?'
As I ponder over this question which just conjured in my mind, as my bus takes a hairpin bend in one of the many twining roads of Dharmshala on our way back to Delhi. Just to give, a bit of an over view, this is not the first time this question has popped up in my mind, but it has been the case many a times, and it disappears since, I involve myself in other things that constitute our normal, day-to-day life. But this time, it is different I consciously think over it a bit deeply since, I have all the time in the world, and a flood of recent moments that will soon become memories that will always lit up my face when introspecting in future.
As the bus takes another turn in the winding roads of the mountain, all I can see is the magnanimous silhouette of mountains that line the road, the cloudy night sky and occasional stream of light from the vehicles passing by. There is something about the mountains that resonates or appeals to the stillness/calmness within all of us. The more we move towards the plains, the seas, broadly, far away from the mountains, the more our hearts & minds mirror the turmoil of the seas and heat of the land. Beyond this, another reason I experienced recently is of how trekking a mountain imitates life and helps instill necessary qualities needed in life...and how it is rightly said that mountains know the secret we need to learn. That it might take time, it might be hard, but if you just hold on long enough, you will find the strength to rise up.
'Climb the mountains
and get their good tidings.
Nature's peace will flow into you,
as sunshine flows into trees.'
So aptly you have presented the congruent state of the mountain and our souls. Keep writing, keep exploring.
